This blog is the personal research web site of Oscar de la Torre, a PhD student of history at the University of Pittsburgh. I am doing research on Brazilian quilombos (runaway slave communities), but I’m in general interested in maroon societies in the Americas, slavery, Latin American history, and many other subjects.
